Color Theory I

Instructor: Dannielle Mick
No matter what medium you work in, a basic understanding of color theory is essential. This workshop will focus on the gray scale, color wheel, complimentary colors, warm verses cool and more. You will come away with the knowledge of how to mix color and make it work for you. You will never have to ask, "How do I mix this color?" again! All levels welcome. Bring an apron. All materials supplied.

Intro to Oil Painting

Instructor: Dannielle Mick
Oil painting is the process of painting with pigments that use drying oil as the binder. It is one of the oldest methods of painting. The depth and richness achieved with oil paints is unmatched in any other media. In this workshop students will learn oil painting basics and become familiar with paint, mediums, brushes and surfaces. Value, color theory and composition will be covered. Bring an apron and a container to transport wet paintings. All other materials will be supplied.

Landscape Painting with Todd L. W. Doney

Instructor: Todd L. W. Doney
Artist Todd L. W. Doney, professor of visual arts at County College of Morris (CCM), will provide a behind-the-scenes demonstration of the process and materials he uses in his landscape paintings. The demonstration will offer attendees the chance to watch as Doney creates a painting inspired by the landscape around his home. They will learn how colors are mixed and how paint is applied to capture the subtleties of light.

A self-described neo-impressionist and neo-romantic, Doney has held one-person exhibits at The Morris Museum in Morristown, Broadfoot & Broadfoot in NY, the Gallery MacEgan in Morristown, the College of Saint Elizabeth, New Jersey City University, Griffin Gallery in Madison and at the Brickton Art Gallery in Park Ridge, IL. Other exhibitions include Drumthwacket, the governor’s mansion in Princeton, the Paterson Museum in Paterson, The Visual Arts Center of New Jersey, The Arts for the Parks National Competition in Wyoming, and the Society of Illustrators Annual Exhibitions in New York among others.

Currently, his work is represented by Broadfoot & Broadfoot, located in the Lower East Side, NY, and Boonton, NJ. His works are in public and private collections worldwide.

All registration and fees must be received at least three weeks prior to the start date of any workshop. Your space will not be held until the fee is received.

Lakeside Art Studio uses images of students and classes in progress for marketing purposes only. No names or personal information will be used. Your consent is understood upon registration.

Cancellation Policy: 60 days or more prior to start date of class: full refund less 20%. Less than 60 days prior to start date of class: payment is forfeited. Lakeside Art Studio reserves the right to cancel any class that is under-subscribed with full refund. For private and semi-private lessons, two weeks' cancellation notice is required or tuition is forfeited. If student is 30 or more minutes late to any private or semi-private lesson, it will be cancelled and the fee for that session will be forfeited.
