If your child has the desire to learn, this is the place to be! The Morris Museum offers a professional setting for the budding artist to develop their creative side. The young artist is offered individual attention in this exciting, fun and creative environment. Starting with a variety of exercises in value, shape, line and form, and then expanding into composition and light source they will learn to appreciate common everyday scenes with new eyes. They will work from still life, photographs and their imagination. Students will learn at a young age how to keep a journal of their drawings as a record of their growth. Join the fun and learn the basics.

Painting the Ocean

Water is different from other landscapes because it is sometimes transparent, sometimes running, sometimes crashing waves: it’s always moving. This workshop will give you solid techniques on how to translate what you see and then translate it into a painting. Learn to simplify, explore light source and shadows. Pastels will be demonstrated, but all media are welcome.

Ventures in Oil

Oil painting is the process of painting with pigments that use drying oil as the binder. It is one of the oldest methods of painting. The depth and richness achieved with oil paints is unmatched in any other media. In this class students will learn oil painting basics and become familiar with paint, mediums, brushes and surfaces. Value, color theory and composition will be covered on a regular basis. Students will be encouraged to work from nature, photographs, still life and their own imagination. Dannielle will demonstrate and work one on one with each student to help achieve their own artistic vision. STUDENTS MUST SUPPLY THEIR OWN MATERIALS.

Explore Mixed Media

Whether you have never picked up a brush or it's been too long, or you want to experiment with something new, this class is for you. This course will focus on the mixing of materials of your choice. Students will learn various painting, drawing and mark-making techniques as well as experiment with different styles to achieve unique results. Value, color theory and composition will be introduced. Students will be encouraged to work from nature, photographs, still life and their own imagination. Dannielle will demonstrate and work one on one with each student to help achieve his or her own artistic vision. Let your creative juices flow and have fun exploring.
